Join us for this three day gathering to discover and celebrate Indigenous knowledge, food sovereignty, and community connections.

Gathering Details

The Island Indigenous Foods Gathering (IIFG) invites you to be part of this enriching event focused on food sovereignty and intergenerational learning hosted by the Quw'utsun Cultural Connections Society. Benefit from workshops, youth and elder programs, and cultural exchanges allowing participants to share and learn together in a uniquely engaging atmosphere.

Event Schedule

When:  October 6th - 8th

Main Venue: Quw'utsun Cultural Center, 200 Cowichan Way, Duncan, BC
Opening & Closing Ceremonies:  S'amunu Longhouse, 5589 Club Rd, Duncan

Welcome & Community Building

Join us for Day 1 of the Gathering, beginning with creative activities like shirt decorating and storytelling. The day concludes with a communal dinner followed by opening ceremonies, a warm welcome from Elders, and local cultural performances.

Please Note:

As Cowichan is hosting this annual event there are 60 seats set aside for the hosting nation and neighbouring nations: Stz’uminus First Nation, Ts’uubaa-asatx First Nation, Halalt First Nation, Lyackson First Nation, Penelakut Tribe, Pacheedaht First Nation, and Ditidaht First Nation.

For other nations within Vancouver Island communities there are 2 spaces available per nation.
